If you’re a business owner, odds are you already give back to your community. Like many charitable people, your business likely sponsors events, makes in-kind donations, and donates cash to more than a few favorite organizations.
Many local business owners find it useful to work with their community foundation to give back to the community—the place where they built their business and developed lasting relationships with employees and customers.
THCF offers a variety of tools to help you build and grow your corporate philanthropy:
- Corporate foundation. Establishing a donor advised fund (DAF) helps you organize your company’s giving in a convenient, easy to manage, and tax-wise structure. Your company can make a contribution to the DAF at any time and receive a tax benefit in that same year. Donations, in the form of grants, can be made to the charity or charities of your choice at a later date. It’s a flexible way to simplify your corporate giving.
- Corporate scholarship. Creating a scholarship fund is an excellent way to leave your mark on your industry. Your corporate scholarship fund can be tailored to meet your company's charitable objectives and offer valuable financial assistance to students. Whether you prefer to lead the selection process or leave it to our community volunteers, have a lot of selection criteria, or want to keep it general, we are committed to helping you invest in the next generation of industry leaders.
These are only a few examples of ways you can get your business involved in local philanthropy through your community foundation. We have decades of experience in helping people do amazing things with their giving. Everything from offering regular volunteer opportunities to your staff, sponsoring community events hosted by local nonprofits, or offering pro-bono services are all great ways to give back, too.
However you choose to do it, we thank you for using your business to create a better community. We are glad to help you deepen your business’s impact and connection to your community, customers, and employees by creating a philanthropy plan that supports causes that align with your charitable objectives.
