Recently, a group of investors, collaboration partners, and potential donors gathered at Blendwell Café in Independence for an exclusive update about our community initiative, Job Skills for New Careers.

Thanks to the generosity of 32 donors and fundholders, we were able to raise nearly $150,000 for this initiative. These funds will provide wrap-around services, such as utility or rent assistance, transportation vouchers, financial and employment coaching, grocery and gas cards, and more. Some of these funds may also be used for training tuition, although more than half of all tuition for our program participants is generously provided by KC Scholars’ “Great Jobs KC” program.

The Job Skills for New Careers community initiative aims to help remove barriers to success and coach people through the process of getting the training they need to qualify for good-paying, in-demand careers. Wrap-around support and services are provided by Community Services League and are free for all participants.

We invite you to learn more about our Job Skills for New Careers initiative and how you can get involved. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our President and CEO, Phil Hanson. Let us show you how the power of community can change lives.
