Gene and Joanne Cable, owners of Cable Chevrolet for nearly 40 years, have actively served and supported the Eastern Jackson County region both with talent and treasure. As a young married couple, Gene and Joanne moved to Independence in 1956, and became involved in business and civic life. Gene served as a member of the original Independence City Charter Commission and became President of the Independence Rotary Club. Joanne joined Junior Service League in 1959, and became an active volunteer with many charitable organizations that involved children and the arts.

The Cables established this scholarship to help the youth of our community attain the skills needed for a good future. They recognize the importance of a good education and enjoy helping others prepare for their futures.
