The Bill Summa Scholarship was established as a tribute to Coach Bill Summa upon his retirement from teaching in the Independence School District in 1988, to provide college education for graduating seniors from William Chrisman High School.
Eligibility:
- Must be a graduating senior from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri;
- Must have four years demonstrated participation in sports at William Chrisman High School;
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree at any junior college, college or university;
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0;
- Must have demonstrated financial need.
Amount:
Up to $500.
Renewable:
Not a renewable scholarship.
Deadlines:
General applications and additional requirements are due February 24.
Please note that the general application requires transcripts showing grades from Fall Semester 2022. Any applications submitted with transcripts omitting Fall Semester 2022 will not be considered. We recommend getting started on your application as soon as you have received your Fall Semester 2022 transcripts so you have time to prepare the additional requirements.
Requirements:
- Personal essay of approximately 500 words speaking to your personal qualities and goals for the future.
- Personal reference from a coach.
- A second personal reference.
