Each year, the end of the school year brings a bittersweet moment for the THCF Youth Advisory Council (YAC) — as we say goodbye to another graduating class of student leaders who have helped shape the heart of our philanthropic efforts.

On May 15, 2025, we gathered for our annual YAC Senior Picnic, a tradition that offers seniors a chance to reflect on their time in the program, share advice with younger students, and celebrate the friendships and impact they’ve created together.

This year, we honored 28 graduating seniors, each of whom has contributed time, compassion, and leadership to make our communities stronger. Nine seniors attended the picnic and shared heartfelt memories, along with words of wisdom for future YAC members. As always, their reflections were a mix of joy, humor, and deep pride in the work they’ve done.

2025 YAC Scholarships

We also recognized three extraordinary students with YAC scholarships, awarded to those who exemplified exceptional commitment, teamwork, and service:

🏆 Madi Herrington (Blue Springs South) received the Elizabeth Hill McClure Scholarship for her years of leadership and service. Madi has been instrumental in recruitment, fundraising, and site visits — all while making others feel welcome and supported. She will attend Arizona Christian University to study Childhood Development.

🏆 Carson Mullins (Blue Springs High School) also received the Elizabeth Hill McClure Scholarship for his consistent involvement and leadership in grantmaking, the YAC fundraiser, and the Fill Those Trucks food drive. He’s been accepted into the UMKC Conservatory.

🏆 Samantha Lane (Blue Springs South) was honored with the Henri E. Goettel Youth in Philanthropy Award. Samantha brought enthusiasm, generosity, and a spirit of mentorship to YAC. She plans to study Accounting at the University of Missouri and become a CPA.

Each of these students has left an indelible mark on YAC and on our community. Their stories are a testament to what youth philanthropy can do — not only for those being served, but for those doing the serving.

As they move on to their next chapters, we know they carry with them values of empathy, leadership, and civic responsibility. And while we’ll miss seeing them at meetings and events, we are incredibly proud to have been part of their journey.

Congratulations to the YAC Class of 2025 — we can’t wait to see where your light leads next.
