In May 2024, Truman Heartland donors joined us for a behind-the-scenes tour of Pro Deo Youth Center — a nonprofit dedicated to supporting teens in Eastern Jackson County with after-school programs, free tutoring, counseling, and workforce readiness. Today, we’re excited to share a major update on their journey.

Pro Deo is in the final stages of their $3.3 million capital campaign to build The Wesley Place, a purpose-built facility that will more than double their capacity — from serving 35 teens daily to over 80. In this new space, students will access a range of expanded services including:

  • Life skills and job training programs
  • Tutoring and academic support
  • Individual and group counseling
  • Inclusive activities for students with special needs
  • Alumni and weekend events that build lasting community

Since launching the campaign in November 2023, Pro Deo has raised over 62% of their goal — but with just 100 days left to raise the remaining $700,000, time is of the essence. They’re inviting supporters to help bring this vision to life by sponsoring spaces that matter to them: makerspaces, counseling rooms, outdoor activity areas, and more.

The impact? A stronger, safer, and more resilient community — built by and for those who believe every teen deserves to be loved, valued, and equipped for change.
