Providing Support in Perpetuity
Charmingly down to earth, Jeff and Marita Ray have made a reputation of giving of their time and talent. With deep roots in their Independence community, Jeff, a successful engineer, and Marita, a retired elementary school teacher, have long supported nonprofits that help lift up people in need.
Jeff and Marita know that their donations are an investment in their community and in 2018, with the encouragement of their financial advisor, they joined the Heartland Legacy Society at Truman Heartland Community Foundation. By including THCF in their estate plans, the Rays can maximize their giving impact and ensure that the charities they love will continue to receive their support in perpetuity.
“Our community’s needs will always change, but this will allow us to perpetuate our support of the charities that we know and trust to meet those needs,” said Marita.
After experiencing the ease of working with Truman Heartland, Marita connected her mother, Ella Sehrt with the Foundation to do the same for her estate. As successor advisors on Ella’s fund, Marita and her brother are setup to continue their mother’s charitable giving, honor her legacy and leave a lasting impact on our community. “The flexibility of working with the Foundation fit with what we had in mind and was exactly what our family was looking for,” said Marita.
