For more than 20 years, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) at Truman Heartland Community Foundation has been empowering students in Eastern Jackson County to change their communities through philanthropy. Each year, nearly 120 students from 12 area high schools work together to give back, gaining hands-on experience in grantmaking, fundraising and volunteering.
YAC's 2021 fundraiser, Wheels & Reels, was held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at William Chrisman High School in Independence. The family favorite Shrek was the feature presentation. This socially distanced, outdoor movie night helped raise money to support the group's grantmaking efforts and provide a fun, family-friendly way for new students to learn about Youth Advisory Council.
Thank you to all of our sponsors. And thank you to all those who came out to support YAC!
