For more than 20 years, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) at Truman Heartland Community Foundation has been empowering students in Eastern Jackson County to change their communities through philanthropy. Each year, students from area high schools work together to give back, gaining hands-on experience in grantmaking, fundraising, and volunteering.
YAC's 2022 fundraiser, Wheels & Reels, was held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at William Chrisman High School in Independence. The family favorite ET was the feature presentation. This socially distanced, outdoor movie night raised money to support the group's grantmaking efforts and provided a fun, family-friendly way for students to learn about Youth Advisory Council.
