Now in its 20th year, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) at Truman Heartland Community Foundation engages more than 160 students annually from 13 Eastern Jackson County high schools and provides hands-on experience in fundraising, grantmaking and volunteering.
The YAC 2020 annual fundraiser, Freezin’ for a Reason, will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Summit Ice in Lee’s Summit. With anticipated attendance of 300 local high school students, the event is a fun, safe Saturday night and an opportunity to share YAC’s passion for philanthropy.
All proceeds from Freezin’ for a Reason will go toward building up the YAC Endowment Fund at Truman Heartland, which helps provide grants to nonprofits that serve kids and teens in Eastern Jackson County. This year, YAC awarded $3,000 in grants to two local nonprofits!
