Power of Community: Developing (and Expanding) Potential

Each day, Developing Potential works with more than 150 adults in Eastern Jackson County with developmental disabilities to help them live fuller, healthier and more productive lives with as much dignity and independence as possible.

With locations in Kansas City, Independence and Lee’s Summit, Developing Potential has been serving the community for more than 25 years and the need continues to grow.

Developing PotentialRecently, they launched the Building Lives capital campaign. With a goal of $3.25 million, the campaign funds will be used to build an additional facility in Lee’s Summit that would help them address the need for services. Thanks to local supporters like you, Developing Potential has raised more than $2.65 million to date in donations and pledges.

A partnering nonprofit since 2003, last year Truman Heartland fundholders and board members had the opportunity to go behind the scenes for an exclusive look at Developing Potential program and services. Now, they are inviting you to do the same.

Join Developing Potential on Saturday, September 14 at 9am at their Independence location. Chris Cakes will be on-site offering a pancake breakfast. Staff will provide tours of the facility, information on programs and an update on their plans for expansion. This event is available at no cost, but registration is required.
