In 2019, Truman Heartland celebrated the 24th Annual Toast to Our Towns Gala, presented by Speaks Chapels. With more than 700 attendees, it was truly an evening to remember. Tom and Carman Duvall were recognized as the Heartland Humanitarians of the Year, GEHA as the Heartland Corporate Citizen of the Year, Drumm Farm Center for Children received the Heartland Service Award and George N. Koepp was awarded the Dr. Paul M. Thomson Professional Advisor Award. Seven local mayors awarded their Citizens of the Year awards to individuals and families in their community who exemplify what it means to be a community servant and philanthropist. A celebration of philanthropy in Eastern Jackson County, the success of this event was due to support from the community. Benefiting Truman Heartland Community Foundation, Toast to Our Towns was presented by Speaks Chapels. Saint Luke's East Hospital hosted the cocktail reception and GEHA hosted the Mix, Mingle and Music After Party. Centerpoint Medical Center sponsored the Heartland Citizens’ Reception, a special pre-Gala event for the Citizens of the Year, graciously hosted at the home of Dr. Steven and Beth Silverstein. Additional support was provided by: CommunityAmerica Credit Union; DSI; Dunn Family Foundation; Edward Jones Financial Advisors; Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation; Humphrey, Farrington & McClain; Midwest Trust; Northrop Grumman; Rockhill Orthopaedic Specialists; and Silverstein Eye Centers. Furthermore, Truman Heartland is thankful for the leadership of Gala Committee chair Judy Forrester, vice chair Candy White and their dynamic Gala Committee, Brad Speaks who chaired the Gala Sponsorship Committee and all of the individuals and business who attended the event.

Join us on Saturday, September 26th, for the 25th Annual Toast to Our Towns Gala - now online! Awards for this year's Gala honorees will be presented live online and cameras will break to seven mayoral watch parties where the 2020 Citizens of the Year will be recognized for their outstanding philanthropic contributions.
