Give Smart: Support the Grants Program and Help Local Nonprofits

There are so many perks to having a donor advised fund with Truman Heartland. In addition to simplifying your recordkeeping and learning about local nonprofits at Behind the Scenes events, donor advised fundholders have the special opportunity to contribute to the impact of our annual grants cycle.

Nonprofits in Need
This year, our Grants Committee reviewed 84 Community Grant applications, requesting $495,074 total in funding, and 32 applications for the Jelley Family Foundation for Children’s Education endowment, requesting $347,647 total in funding.

With only slightly more than $250,000 available to award this year, this leaves a funding gap of more than $589,000.

2 Great Ways to Get Involved Summit Church Lunch VolunteersJunior Achievement
  1. Make a grant to THCF to add to our grantmaking budget. The Grants Committee will decide the most deserving programs to fund with your contribution. To take advantage of this opportunity, make a grant to Truman Heartland by Monday, September 2.

Grants can be requested through DonorCentral, by submitting a Grant Recommendation Form or by calling Rachael at 816-912-4185.

  2. Help fund the proposals that fit your charitable goals. If you prefer to decide exactly which programs to support, we will publish a list of grants with unmet need in early October. Stay tuned for this exciting opportunity!

Celebrate
Fundholders are invited to join us in celebrating the nonprofits receiving grants at our Annual Grants Luncheon on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Adams Pointe Conference Center. Fundholders who lend their support will be recognized at the event. You don’t want to miss this feel-good event honoring the excellent work of our area nonprofits and the generosity of our fundholders! Look for your invitation in September.
