The Jackson County Free Health Clinic was opened in April, 2000 as an initiative of THCF. Through community-wide needs assessments it became evident that a gap existed between those with expensive chronic illnesses and medical health insurance programs to provide for their needs. In cooperation with community leaders, a pilot program was launched to provide care.
Today, the clinic is located in the Truman Forest Building Suite 302 of Independence Regional Hospital owned by HCA and is operated by a governing Board of Directors, 7 primary care providers and more than 70 volunteers. The clinic has received regional recognition for its success in meeting community health needs; Lead Pharmacist, Cameron Lindsey, was recognized as one of Ingram’s Heroes in Healthcare and Medical Director, Dr. Bridget McCandless, was recognized as one of our 2005 Outstanding Citizens of the Year.
The clinic provides primary care, chronic disease management and on-site dispensary services for uninsured adults with chronic illness. To learn about qualifying for services, visit www.jcfhc.org.
