Heartland's Next Generation
Uphold the Mission
Heartland’s Next Generation is a membership organization of the Foundation whose purpose is to connect the next generation of community leaders, to promote involvement in the Heartland Community and to encourage the life-long habit of charitable giving.
Achieve the Vision
HNG seeks to provide an ongoing source of philanthropy-minded leaders to the Heartland community abroad and its local counterparts – Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Independence, Kansas City, Lee’s Summit and Raytown.
Civic Engagement
HNG membership meets on a quarterly basis and is invited to participate in a variety of activities in between.
Connect… Membership hosts 4 Foundation donor events and 3-4 social events annually (see our Calendar of Events); in 2004 HNG hosted Foundation donors and board members at the Center for Study of the Korean War and networked with boards from Family Literacy Center and Turning Point in an effort to promote a collaborative camp held in the fall of 2004. HNG members are also invited to attend 2 educational seminars to connect to current community leadership.
Promote…Membership actively promotes involvement in the Heartland community by serving on nonprofit boards, offering consulting services and initiating community projects. Members are made aware of board and consulting opportunities by receiving our monthly e-newsletter. In October of 2005, membership will host Christmas in October in Independence, a new initiative supported by the city to promote collaboration among many of the Foundation’s nonprofit partners.
Encourage…HNG members host an annual event to expand the Foundation’s grantmaking capacity with the goal of encouraging the life-long habit of charitable giving.
Become a Member
HNG is open to any individual residing, working or simply having an interest in the development of our community. You too can join our efforts by completing and submitting the membership application form to the Foundation Office. Membership dues are determined by the HNG Executive Board and are used to grow the HNG Acorn Account, which supports general operating expenses.
