A Family Tradition of Giving Back
Cindy Cavanah believes she knows more about automobiles than running a family charitable trust. That’s one reason why she and her husband Marty started their donor advised fund – the Cavanah Family Foundation — with THCF.
“I have a lot of knowledge about the car business,” she said laughing.
As part of the Cable Dahmer Chevrolet family, Cindy grew up in the automobile business and worked at the dealership for 22 years. She was an active member of the business community especially local chambers of commerce. Upon retirement, Cindy began thinking about other charitable endeavors.
The more she got involved with THCF, the more she valued the Foundation’s wealth of information about local nonprofits as well as the advisory support from the staff.
The Cavanahs support a variety of charitable causes in Lee’s Summit and Independence. Cindy serves on several boards and committees, including the THCF Board of Directors.
Her generosity reflects the values instilled by her parents. And she has passed these values on to their children.
Cindy emphasized: “In our family, it’s important to give back through your time and money.”
