2016 Is Here!

Happy New Year! For me it still has to sink in that 2015 has officially come and gone. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Holiday Season. I also want to thank each of you for your support this past year which enabled your Community Foundation to continue to make a big impact in our community.

Each January we welcome new board members to our 28 member board of Directors and have to say goodbye to some who are rotating off. We have 6 new board members who were elected to a three year term plus we have 4 new members who are representing their local Advisory Board of Directors, serving a one year term. We also have 6 board members rotating off the board.

New members joining the board serving a three year term are:

  1. Dave Bower: Principal at Populous, former Mayor of Raytown, served on our Raytown Advisory Board.
  2. Tom Duvall: CEO of Truckmovers, has a family Donor Advised Fund with the foundation.
  3. Linda Gerding: Has served on our Raytown Advisory Board, has a family Donor Advised Fund with the foundation.
  4. Stan Salva: served last year on the Board of Directors as Chair of the Independence/Sugar Creek Advisory Board, former Mayor of Sugar Creek.
  5. Jeff Walters: CFO of Blue Ridge Bank and Trust.
  6. Candy White: served last year on the Board of Directors as Chair of the Lee’s Summit Advisory Board, has a family Donor Advised Fund with the foundation.

We also have 4 new Advisory Board Chairs who are elected by their advisory board members. They serve as full voting members of our board. These new members are:

  1. Chris Culbertson: Chair of Blue Springs/Grain Valley Advisory Board, Producer-Property and Casualty at Creative Planning.
  2. Jill-Esry: Chair of Independence/Sugar Creek Advisory Board, School Board Member for Independence School District.
  3. Diane Krizek: Chair of Raytown Advisory Board, publisher of Raytown Brookings Eagle newspaper and owner of Saber Cycle.
  4. Machelle Riffe: Chair of Lee’s Summit Advisory Board, owner Machelle Riffe Real Estate.

We also want to thank the following now former board members who have rotated off the Board of Directors.

  1. Martha Cockerell, Served as Board Member from 2007-2015 and chaired the board in 2014
  2. Brad Constance, served from 2007-2015
  3. Bill Esry, served from 2007-2015
  4. Paul Broome, from 2013-2015
  5. Darrel Hensley, served from 2013-2015
  6. Dr. Allan Markley, served from 2013-2015

We are very fortunate to have a very dedicated and hard-working Board of Directors leading your Community Foundation.
